Morais (1945-1991) was a poet who met Wojnarowicz in 1975 through the poetry scene. He was living on Court Street in Brooklyn with poet Dennis DeForge, and editing Brooklyn college's undergraduate literary journal riverrun, which published Wojnarowicz's work. Wojnarowicz and Morais were briefly lovers, and continued an epistolary relationship after Morais moved to Montreal around 1976. Morais died of complications related to AIDS in 1991.
