About
For this installation, Wojnarowicz brought in piles of sand to imply a beach or waterfront scene. Several of his painted driftwood totems were installed in the sand and on the walls of the gallery. He also presented Smuggler, a painting of a sailor on a riverboat.
Wojnarowicz's papers in the Fales Library and Special Collections (Box 83, slide sheet 75 and 89) include images of this installation.
