Rice, Bill

Rice (1931-2006) was an actor and painter. He acted opposite Wojnarowicz in Richard Kern's film Stray Dogs (1985). Along with photographer Allen Frame and artist Kirsten Bates, he helped form the theater company Turmoil, which hosted an experimental production of Wojnarowicz's monologues Sounds in the Distance (starring Nan Goldin) in the garden of Rice's apartment building. The production was called Turmoil in the Garden.
