Description
The original installation Cones/May Windows was shown in 1976 at 112 Greene Street in New York and included a vertical monitor showing Jonas’s video May Windows (1976) on the floor beside two circular arrangements of upright cones, one group made of paper and the other metal. The metal cones also appeared in Jonas’s performance Mirage the same year. At 112 Greene Street, Jonas and the artist James Nares performed an untitled improvisation around the installation, using two metal cones to amplify their voices. Jonas partially reconstructed the installation in 2011 as Cones/May Windows (After Mirage), (1976/2011), which features a single circular arrangement of paper cones alongside the video monitor. In 2014, she created another iteration titled Cones/May Windows (After Mirage) II (1976/2014), in which the cones are metal instead of paper.
