Description
In 1980, Jonas included an early installation version of Organic Honey in her exhibition at the University Art Museum (now UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive), Berkeley. The Berkeley exhibition included performances of Organic Honey’s Vertical Roll (1972), after which various costumes and props from the performance were installed in a nearby gallery space.
The multimedia installation Organic Honey’s Visual Telepathy / Organic Honey’s Vertical Roll was first installed at the Stedelijk Museum in 1994. It features four videos: Organic Honey’s Visual Telepathy (1972), Vertical Roll (1972), Richard Serra’s Anxious Automation (1971), and Organic Honey’s Vertical Roll (1973–99), as well as photographs of the performance. The installation includes a total of over seventy elements from Jonas’s original video and performance sets: two sawhorses, a four-by-eight piece of plywood, a Japanese poster, and a Hopi kachina doll. Also on view are a video camera and tripod with live feed that appears on a nearby video monitor. Also on view are three closed-circuit video cameras on tripods with live feeds that appear on nearby video monitors.
